Camping by the Ogden River

For our last camping trip of the season we decided to venture out and try a new spot up the Ogden Canyon by the Ogden River.

We left on a Monday which turned out to be an awesome idea.  We ended up having the campground to ourselves besides the camp host.  The kids were able to run around and explore and be noisy.  The weather was pretty good.  It rained a bit the second day.  During the rainstorm we played games in the trailer.

We had a lot of fun playing in the river and exploring.  The best thing that happened on this trip was that TJ got potty trained!  We decided since we would be outside for 3 days except when sleeping that we would not bring any diapers and just give him the chance to do it.  It turned out to be the best idea!  We have been struggling for months to get him potty trained.  He just did not want to initiate.  But when it came down to it and he knew he didn't have a diaper on he had NO problem!  We had NO accidents.  It also helped that he loved peeing on the trees.  Since being home he has stayed out of diapers except at night.  Woohoo!  Way to go TJ!

The kids caught a lot of grasshoppers and Brennen tried tying them on his line to catch fish.  It worked pretty good!  We also saw a huge moose!  He was walking through our campground.  Then he ended up hanging out in the bushes by the bathroom.  When we tried to go to the bathroom before bed the moose would start pawing at the ground and getting upset and we got scared and had to head back.  Good thing we brought the little porta-potty for TJ.

One night when we were sitting around the camp fire I was asking the kids silly questions.  One of the questions I asked them was "If they could go anywhere in the world where would they go?"  When I asked TJ he pointed to a tree and said "over there".  Such a silly kid!

Maggie was being extra silly on this trip.  She usually tolerates the water but this time she was swimming around and jumping in.  She also decided to dive for rocks.  Brennen tossed a small rock in the water and she jumped in and dove down until she found it.  Brennen kept doing it and Maggie would dive for them every time sometimes staying under the water for quite a while digging around to find the exact rock.  Then she would take the rock up on the shore and make a pile.  It was so weird!  She had never done that before.
