Swingset!

Our project over Memorial weekend was to put up the kids new swingset. We knew it would be a lot of work, but didn't realize it would take THAT long!

Here is a picture of our old swingset. Brennen was getting too big for it and we were worried about the beam for the swings because it had a big crack in it.

We started Thursday night by sorting out all the wood by letter and number.

Jason and I worked on it Thursday night after the kids went to bed until about midnight. We have some pretty bright lights in our backyard.

We started again Friday morning and worked on it until it started raining at about 3:30 pm.

Saturday we had all day to work on it. Brennen and Kiara both had birthday parties to go to in the afternoon while Delma was napping so that helped.

We were really hoping to get it done Saturday night but that didn't happen. We finally quit at 10:00 PM right after we put up the slide. We let the kids come out and slide for a few minutes since they have been so anxious and the next day being Sunday they would have to wait until Monday to play.

Monday we were making pretty good progress. Delma climbed up to the top all by herself. There is a ladder with 3 steps in the back to get to the bottom level and there is a ladder from there 3 steps to get to the middle level where the slide is then there is another ladder 3 steps up to get to the very top. There is also a picnic table next to the lower level under the slide. The kids LOVE eating under there. They love eating outside.

Finally! By about 4:45 pm Monday afternoon we had it all put together.

The kids were pretty excited...almost as excited as Jason and I!

The dog didn't want to be left out so she jumped up the ladder, but she didn't really know how to get down after that.

We still have to cement in the swing side so the posts don't come off the ground while Brennen is swinging. Then we have to put finish on the whole thing and then we have to bring in a couple tons of pea gravel and then...we will really be done!

I have to say I am pretty darn good with a cordless drill now. Also I think it is awesome that Jason and I did this all by ourselves for 4 days and didn't argue...not once!
