For Kiara's 11th birthday we surprised her with a puppy!  We have been considering getting a second dog for a while.  Maggie is doing a lot better getting along with other dogs and I think another dog will help keep her more active.  Kiara gave me her birthday list a couple months before her birthday.
This is what was on her list

A puppy
or a kitty
or a bunny
or a baby chicken
or a bird
or a hamster
or a pet
or an animal

We found this cute little puppy for a great deal about a week before before her birthday.  He is a Havanese/beagle mix and will stay fairly small to medium size.  We went and picked him up while she was at school and surprised her when she got home.

Sometimes I'm still not sure I want two dogs.  They bark and play with each other a lot.  But he is a fun little guy and is fitting in well.  He always sleeps on Kiara's bed and he misses her terribly when she is at school.  He is one spoiled little puppy, and Maggie gets along with him better than we had hoped.
