April Fool's Dinner!

Every April during the Saturday night Priesthood session of conference my sisters and sis-in-laws get together and serve a fun April Fool's Dinner for our kids.  This year we served the kids an eight course meal, we had 9 kids and two babies in attendance.  It was A LOT of fun!

Waiting patiently for dinner

Round 1: Grilled cheese sandwich that is really pound cake with orange frosting served with carrot chips

Cousin Kyler was the first to figure out that it wasn't really a sandwich

Yummy!!

Round 2:  Cup of juice which is really jello

Kiara trying to drink her juice

Brennen trying to drink his juice

All the kids enjoying their meal

Delma trying so hard to drink her juice

Round 3:  Brown hard boiled eggs and red rice

We didn't know this would happen but the kids thought they were chocolate eggs.  They couldn't figure out why the chocolate eggs had meat in them!

Brennen never really figured out what it was but ate it anyway...and ate a few of his cousins "chocolate eggs"

yum yum!

Round 4:  Sprite with different colored ice cubes with fake bugs in them

Delma didn't mind the bugs

Kiara thought it was hilarious and wanted to play with her bugs!

Round 5:  Bacon and eggs, the eggs are made of melted marshmallow and a dried apricot for the yolk.  The bacon is a tootsie roll and caramel shaped together.  This round was the funniest to watch them eat.

Cousin Porter enjoying the marshmallow egg

Ate it all gone!

Round 6:  To counteract the bacon and eggs we gave them a plate of fruit and veggies

Round 7:  Different colored bread-sticks.  This was done by adding food coloring to the butter that was spread over the bread-sticks

Tj  cooperated very well during the dinner, he was asleep when we I got to my sister's house so he slept through the whole thing in his cousins room next to the baby monitor.
Cousin Zaxton enjoyed being passed around to his aunts and sampling some of the food  we were serving.

Round 8:  Dessert!  We gave them a cupcake for dessert.  Of course it's not really a cupcake, this is a meatloaf cup with blue mashed potatoes on top.  The kids really like this, I think I'm going to make it for dinner once in a while.

Cousin Natalie was not happy when she figured out it wasn't really a cupcake

We all had a really good time, Brennen says his favorite was the bacon and eggs.  Kiara and Delma both liked the bugs in the colored ice cubes the best.
